For older teens and adults that suffer from crooked, gapped, or crowded teeth, braces may seem like more trouble than they’re worth, especially since metal braces after childhood can be just as embarrassing as unsightly teeth. With Invisalign, you can get a straighter, more attractive smile without all the bothersome aspects of traditional braces. Invisalign is one of the most common services that Dr. Mark Gladnick does so you can feel confident he will do his best to give you the smile you have always wanted.

Invisalign VS Braces

Cosmetic Appeal – One of the most popular aspects of Invisalign is that they are nearly invisible. Invisalign treatments use thin, clear plastic trays that are fitted to your teeth and often people cannot tell when they are being warn. Most braces use metal brackets and wires that stand out against your teeth. Even braces that use tooth colored brackets and wires are still noticeable and cannot offer the same appeal that Invisalign can.

Comfort – Invisalign is not only made of a smooth plastic material that won’t cause discomfort to the inside of your mouth, they also can be removed whenever you’d like. Those with traditional braces often complain about the brackets rubbing against the insides of their cheeks or snapped wires poking their gums and mouth. Though Invisalign will cause some discomfort as your teeth shift, it is significantly less than the discomfort caused by regular braces.

Food Restrictions – Since Invisalign trays must be removed when you eat or drink anything besides water, you don’t have any restrictions as to what you can and cannot eat. As long as you brush after each meal you can eat whatever you want. With braces, it is important to avoid sticky foods such as gum and candy because they can pull the wires out of place and damage your braces.

Time Frame – In most cases, people who choose the Invisalign treatment will need to wear the trays for about twelve to eighteen months to get their desired results. Those with traditional braces can expect to wear them for an average of two years to get the same results.

Dental Visits – It is recommended that trays are switched every two or three weeks and your dentist will often provide you with two sets of trays at one time, meaning you will only need to see the dentist about once every four to six weeks. With braces, you will need to have them tightened at least once a month.
