Do your teeth feel sensitive to hot and cold, especially at the gumline? Do you notice an inordinate amount of darkened tooth exposure at the gumline? If so, you may have advanced gum recession. What does this mean? The short answer is that your gums have started to shrink away. When this happens, more of the tooth structure is exposed, including part of the tooth's root system. This is a particularly senstve area and the exposure can make you susceptible to discomfort when you drink or eat hot and cold foods. So is there a solution? Yes! But first you should find out, together with your dentist, what is causing the gum recession. Is it due to periodontal disease, or is it a result of grinding your teeth at night? These are just two of the many reasons for gum recession. Once the cause has been determined, the recession can be treated very easily by replacing the missing tiissue, using extra tissue from your own mouth. This procedure typically takes about forty minutes and I have had fantastic results.
How will you feel after the procedure? You may feel some soreness for a day or two after of the procedure, but after that, you will look and feel fabulous!
